International Seminar on Paste and Thickened Tailings (P & TT)

14 - 16 May 2003, Melbourne, Victoria

Jointly organised by the Particulate Fluids Processing Centre (University of Melbourne) and the Australian Centre for Geomechanics. Lead organisers: David Boger (PFPC) and Richard Jewell (ACG).

This Seminar, to be held in Melbourne in 2003, will continue the series of international seminars design to facilitate further discussion on the topic of P&TT and review of the operations in which the technique is being introduced.

This seminar will be of great interest to mining personnel responsible for mine design, management, environment and operating staff as well as consulting engineers, equipment and production suppliers. Please refer to the Registration Brochure.

This seminar will provide a detailed insight into significant global state-of-the-art advances in the safe, economical and environmentally sound disposal of tailings as well as the latest development s in this area.

Why should you attend?

P & TT technology is not a panacea for tailings deposition in all mining operations, but where it is of undoubted value, environmental issues generally dominate the reasons why P &TT should be adopted. By examining the linkages between engineering and applications and the implications of utilising P & TT, it is hoped that the need to look at the costs involved in a "life of mine" time frame rather than simply in terms of the issues of thickening, transport and disposal, will be better understood.
